About Shohreh Aghdashloo
Shohreh’s prolific work on stage and screen has been lauded for decades in both her native Iran and all over the world, especially in her adopted home, the United States. American audiences know her best from her Oscar nominated performance in House of Sand and Fog, her Emmy winning role in HBO’s acclaimed House of Saddam, and as the character ‘Dina Araz’ in the enormously successful Fox series 24.
Shohreh began working on the 5th season of the critically acclaimed futuristic TV series The Expanse in 2020. The show is based on the popular New York Times bestselling book series of the same name. Shohreh plays the lead character ‘Chrisjen Avasarala,’ a smart and passional member of a political family legacy who has risen high in the ranks of Earth’s governing body. Amazon Studios streamed the all new 4th season of The Expanse globally on December 13, 2019.
Shohreh will next be seen on the big screen in November starring alongside of Rita Wilson in the indie film Simple Wedding. Shohreh also served as an executive producer on the film. In film, Shohreh also recently stepped into the role of ‘Bano Ayoub’ in the Canadian Feature The Cuban and earlier this year Shohreh wrapped production working on the movie Run Sweetheart Run, a feminist horror-thriller co-produced by Bluehouse Productions and Automatik, in association with Quiet Girl Productions.
A diverse talent, Shohreh has moved between television, film and theatre with much ease. In 2012, she received critical acclaim for portraying the title character in the legendary Federico Garcia Lorca’s final theatrical play House of Bernarda Alba, in London at the famed Almeida Theater.
Shohreh is also an author, her memoir titled The Alley of Love and Yellow Jasmines was released by Harper Collins publishing in 2013. In the book Shohreh shares her fascinating personal journey of growing up in Tehran and the path that lead her to Los Angeles, where she juggled work, acting, and a family before landing the roles that would make her a star.
Shohreh’s other prestigious TV credits include: The Punisher, Grimm, Grey’s Anatomy, House MD, Law and Order, Portlandia, Will and Grace, among many others. Shohreh’s work in film includes blockbusters such as: Star Tred Beyond, X-Men -The Last Stand, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and The Lake House.
