A famous British doctor and popular TV personality, Dr Ranj Singh is best known for being the resident doctor on This Morning. Having grown up as a gay man in a traditional Sikh household Ranj is also a highly sought-after mental health speaker who regularly inspires audiences by sharing how his mental health was impacted through conflicting personal identity. Ranj’s refreshingly honest talks that focus on health and wellbeing combing personal experiences with professional experiences as a medical doctor.

In 2016 he joined This Morning as the show’s resident doctor helping audiences with a variety of health conditions. This role shot him to fame and he’s gone on to star on a number of popular UK TV shows including Strictly Come Dancing, Would I Lie to You and Celebrity Catchphrase. As well as this he gives his expert opinion on Save Money: Good Health a programme that takes a ‘no limits’ approach to health advice. This includes a focus on gay health and LGBT issues, topics that are close to his heart and things he’s able to discuss at his mental health speaking events.

An NHS clinician, Ranj trained in London and has worked in many hospitals specialising in the treatment of children. He has since become a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health making him one of the most well-respected professionals in the industry. Ranj’s TV career began in 2012 when he appeared on CBeebies hosting Get Well Soon, a role which saw him educate children and parents alike on health issues. His charismatic and likeable personality made him a perfect choice for broadcasting.

Ranj came out as gay to his friends and family in 2009 when he was 30 years old and he’s since gone on to discuss his experiences with his sexuality for Attitude Magazine. In 2018 he was also the cover star for Gay Times as part of a special celebration of LGBT Asians. Having hid his sexuality for most of his life, at his mental health speaking events Ranj can explain how he came to terms with his identity and inspire others to do the same.
