Mark Beaumont

Mark Beaumont has made a career both as an athlete and broadcaster, with a long list of World firsts and records, as well as an investor and entrepreneur, scaling early-stage science and technology companies.  Therefore, as a keynote speaker Mark has the unique ability to talk about equity deals, boardroom strategies and performance teams as well as cycling down volcanoes and surviving capsize!

 

Having cycled around the World twice, he now holds this 18,000-mile record in 78 days & 14 hours – achieving the famous ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ for the first time by bicycle.  Expeditions have taken Mark to over 130 nations & territories, making documentaries over 15 years for the BBC, GCN & CNN, as well as publishing 5 books.  Off the bike, these record-breaking journeys have been through the high Arctic and Atlantic, mountaineering and ocean rowing.  Mark was awarded a British Empire Medal in the Queen’s New Years honours for contributions to sport and charity.  

 

Mark background is also in business & economics.  He is a partner of Eos, an early-stage Innovation Fund & angel network, backing science and technology companies, as well as working in private equity with originating deals and scaling mid-market businesses.
