Biography

Lowri Morgan’s background

After overcoming adversity, after a serious sporting accident 18 years ago and despite being told that she would never be able to run properly again, Lowri has competed in and won some of the most extreme races in the world.

Lowri is one of the few endurance athletes in the world to compete in the famous 350 miles non-stop 6633 Ultra Arctic footrace. It is known for being the toughest, windiest and most extreme race on the planet. During the race, Lowri faced minus 72-degree Celsius temperatures, 70 miles per hour winds and despite fracturing her feet she became the world’s sixth person to have ever completed the challenge. Other achievements include finishing in the Top 10 after competing in the Jungle Ultra Marathon in the Amazon Forest.

In 2015, just two weeks after becoming a first-time parent, Lowri returned to endurance racing by competing in the notoriously difficult Three Peaks Yacht Race and made history by being the first all-female team to win the race.

In 2016, Lowri became the first person to run from North to South Wales via the country’s highest Peaks and mountains in 60 hours. She completed the 150 miles and 10,000-metre ascent challenge in one weekend. Lowri is an adventurer known for her skydiving, mountain skiing and dangerous waters scuba-diving and is one of 80 people in the World to have dived to view the Titanic wreck.

Due to her many achievements, Lowri was invited to attend a private reception with the Queen to acknowledge her services to adventure and exploration. She has also been awarded the National Adventurer of the Year, Honorary Fellowship at Swansea University and was an Ambassador for the 2016 Welsh Government’s Year of Adventure Campaign along with Bear Grylls.

As a TV presenter for over 17 years, Lowri has worked on a number of productions with different companies including live TV with BBC Sport, ITV, Channel 4 and S4C. During the last 5 years, Lowri has been involved with international broadcasters presenting documentaries about the lives of local tribes in Namibia, China, Morocco, Mexico and Peru.

As a speaker, together with footage from her award-winning adventure documentaries, the mother of one talks about empowering self-belief, motivation and life without limits.

By always competing against herself, Lowri thrives on pushing her own boundaries.
