Biography
Katherine Ryan’s background
Viewers of the UK TV panel shows such as Have I Got News For You, Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, QI, The News Quiz and 8 out of 10 Cats… will be familiar with the rib-tickling wit of Canadian comedian, actress and writer Katherine Ryan.
What makes Katherine really stand out as a comedian that can make any private function or corporate event a truly memorable occasion is how she mixes a generally sweet demeanour with slightly risqué material. The word ‘irreverent’ was invented for comedians like Katherine, which is probably why she was such a huge hit at The Edinburgh Festival.
In just a short time, Katherine has gone from winning the Nivea Funny Women Award to developing a reputation as an in-demand comedian who fills clubs in the UK, Canada and the USA, including the Comedy Store in LA. In 2015, she continued her love affair with the UK (and her career on British TV) by becoming the presenter of BBC2’s Hair, the hairdressing competition featuring amateur hair stylists.
As well as a creative stand-up comedian, Katherine has acted in various television situation comedies in the UK, including Don’t Sit in the Front Row, Episodes and Campus.
