What are the best practices for managing and leading in the new normal? How do you lead virtual teams and create trust and connection in the virtual world? And what does “agility” really mean when it comes to mindset and behavior? These are the questions challenging current leaders, as the practices that worked for leaders in the previous “world” are no longer working (or working less well) in the new reality that they are facing.

Jennifer’s research, teaching, and consulting focus on these questions and providing leaders and organizations with research-based answers on best practices for leading in this “new normal” – which is constantly being shaped and redefined. As a social psychologist, Jennifer approaches these questions from a mindset angle – focusing on the psychological roadblocks that keep leaders from leading at their best and the mental strategies and reframings that they can use to start leading at their full potential. Audience members will leave her sessions with concrete tools for how to lead – giving room for ample discussions and questions and answers.

Jennifer is a professor of leadership and organizational behavior at IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland. Prior to IMD, she worked at Tuck Business School and the Kellogg School of Management in the United States and the University of Groningen, in The Netherlands. She received a masters of philosophy and psychology, as well as a doctorate in psychology (focus: social) from Yale University in the United States.

Jennifer’s research mainly focuses on leading in the digital age, as well as the intersection between power and ethics. Her research has been published in Administrative Science Quarterly, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Management, Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, Psychological Science, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, and Journal of Experimental Social Psychology – among others. And has been mentioned in several popular press outlets, including The New York Times and Forbes.

She is also the editor of one of the seminal scientific books on wisdom, Handbook of Wisdom: Psychological Perspectives and serves on the editorial boards of the academic journals, Leadership Quarterly and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes. In 2019, Jennifer was named as one of the top 40 MBA professors worldwide under 40 years of age by Poets and Quants and nominated for a Thinkers50 Radar Award. Jennifer has been a speaker at numerous industry and academic events, including Women in Networking, the Digital HR Innovation Summit, EFMD Deans Conference, The Executive Global Network Conference, Human Capital and Leadership Summit, Africa CEO Forum, and the NZZ X-days from the Swiss Economic Forum.
