James Chau’s Background
James is the Host of The China Current, a digital show that explores the issues shaping the global future including COVID-19. During the pandemic, he has conversed on record with leaders in the pandemic response including Margaret Chan, Jeffrey Sachs, and Peter Piot. Previously, he was a main anchor on China Central Television and guest presented on BBC World News.
In 2016, he was appointed World Health Organisation Goodwill Ambassador for Sustainable Development Goals and Health. He was the first person to be appointed UNAIDS National Goodwill Ambassador for China. He has chaired and moderated high-level events with Angela Merkel, Justin Trudeau, and Laura Bush.
Born in London, he studied piano at the Royal Academy of Music and graduated from Cambridge University.
