Biography
Jinguang Chair Professor of Finance and Economics, National School of Development, Peking University, Deputy Dean, and Director of Peking University Digital Finance Research Center. From 2015 to 2018, he served as a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the People’s Bank of China. At present, he also serves as the deputy secretary-general of the China Society for Finance and Banking, the chairman of the Financial Technology Development and Research Committee of the China Internet Finance Association, the chairman of the Academic Committee of the China Finance 40 Forum, a member of the China Economic 50 Forum, and the editor-in-chief of the English academic journal “China Economic Journal” and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Asian Economic Policy Review. The main research areas are macroeconomics and financial policy. He once worked as an assistant researcher at the Development Research Institute of the Rural Development Research Center of the State Council, a senior lecturer at the Australian National University, an International Visiting Professor of Economics and Finance at General Mills at Columbia Business School, managing director of Citigroup/Chief Economist for Asia Pacific, and managing director of Barclays /Chief Economist of Asian Emerging Market Economy, member of the External Advisory Group for Surveillance Affairs of the International Monetary Fund, and researcher of the Financial Research Center of the Counselor’s Office of the State Council. Received a Ph.D. in Economics from Australian National University, a Master’s degree in Economics from Renmin University of China, and a Bachelor of Agronomy (Agricultural Economics) from Zhejiang Agricultural University.
