Biography

Emmanuel Gobillot’s Background

Emmanuel Gobillot’s first management position was in the financial services industry. He worked as a line manager, finding that he had a natural ability in the role. He moved on to become a program manager, getting yet more experience of how organisations work and how to be a leader.

His experiences in management meant that he saw first-hand how large organisations and individual managers can have difficulties communicating with and motivating teams. Having decided that there must be a better way, Gobillot began considering new approaches to leadership.

Gobillot’s dedication to improving leadership was evident and he went on to work with some of the most respected experts in the field. At Hay Group (a management consulting firm) he was Head of Consumer Sector consulting before becoming Director of Leadership Services. During this time he worked with some of the worlds largest and most well-known companies.

Sharing the methods he had learned and developed in his first book The Connected Leader: Creating Agile Organizations for People Performance and Profit allowed him to see just how much demand there was for guidance. Determined to share his ideas about how to improve leadership, how to engage employees and how to best serve customers with yet more people, Gobillot started his own consultancy, Emmanuel Gobillot Limited.

Gobillot has been able to continue to build his reputation as a speaker, a consultant, a researcher and an author and is now in more demand than ever, assisting companies of all sizes and descriptions. Just like Emmanuel Gobillot himself, Emmanuel Gobillot Limited is committed to providing sustainable and forward-thinking solutions.

Experience and an innovative spirit led Emmanuel Gobillot to consider how best to approach leadership. His abilities as a speaker and his ground-breaking but practical methods have seen him become one of Europe’s most sought-after leadership gurus.

This Is Not A Leadership Book: 20 Rules for Success

Part leadership book, part business book and 100% true, reading this is like hearing a wise, honest and humorous mentor finally tell you about the world of business as it is and how to find your place in it. Many leadership books are either shallow―focusing on only one element of leadership, narrow―examining leadership out of context, or biased―selling an idealised model. This book seeks simplicity without being simplistic and focuses on the reader in their context rather than describing other people’s leadership in theirs. It sets out 20 rules for success that draw on Emmanuel Gobillot’s 20 years of experience advising high performing leaders. Each rule is presented in an engaging and instantly recognisable true story that helps current and aspiring leaders to look differently at their own situation. Best described as a leadership development programme in a book, open this and begin your fast-paced journey from what it takes to be a leader, to why you can be one, via how to succeed.

Leadershift: Reinventing Leadership for the Age of Mass Collaboration

Leadershift is about adapting and changing traditional models of leadership in response to the influence of mass collaboration. Mass collaboration is a form of collective action which occurs when large numbers of people work independently on a single project, exemplified by websites such as YouTube, Facebook and Second Life. As the traditional models of working are radically altered those in leadership roles need to understand their place in this new hierarchy and how to respond. Mass collaboration requires a form of leadership that is prepared to let go of the experience, expertise and control it holds precious and be able to see mass participation as an opportunity to create value rather than a threat to its existence.
