Biography

About Chris Goodall

Chris Goodall is one of the few people in the world to combine deep business experience with detailed knowledge of how climate change will affect the world and its economies.

He has an MBA from Harvard Business School, worked at McKinsey and moved on to found his own consulting business before becoming a partner in the UK’s leading technology and communications research firm, Enders Analysis.

He shifted to working on climate change fifteen years ago. His first book on the carbon footprints of individuals was published in 2007 and won a prize for its detailed analysis. He has since published five other books and is now working on a sixth. Two of these books were on the Financial Times books of the year list.

At the same time, he has worked with companies on planning for carbon reduction and also invested personally in many successful startups, such as Oxwash, the innovative low-carbon and zero pollution laundry business and Switchee, which makes energy saving thermostats for social housing.

He chaired ChargePoint Services, one of the UK’s leading EV charging businesses. This was sold to Engie in 2019.

Chris Goodall is an advisory board member of Pictet Clean Energy, a $7bn fund headquartered in Geneva. He publishes a free newsletter on advances in low carbon technologies. Subscribers around the world include staff at central banks, large investment funds, consulting firms, government entities and companies large and small. This newsletter will be republished by Pictet’s global trends web site, Mega.

His recent speaking engagements include talks for entities as diverse as one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds, a part of the UK government, energy consulting firms, banks, electricity suppliers, fossil fuel companies, and even Extinction Rebellion.
