Biography
Barjis Chohan – An Innovative Entrepreneur in the Fashion Industry
As a trailblazer, Barjis Chohan is almost unrivaled. She decided early on that she would not follow the traditional career path that her parents preferred for her but instead decided to pursue a career in fashion. Study at the London College of Fashion and an internship with Vivienne Westwood followed, and she worked hard to launch her own fashion brand, lobbying for investment from the oil industry in the Middle East.
She is a strong supporter of diversity in the workplace and in the fashion industry as a whole. She made headlines when she cancelled traditional fashion shows for her company in order to avoid young women being objectified. Her own experiences have led to a strong demand for her as a keynote speaker and she can speak on a variety of subjects relating to her work and the position of women in the fashion industry.
Barjis’ fashion label is a fusion of the modesty of Eastern style with Western-style prints, and she has appeared on the pages of all the major newspapers and fashion magazines. She has won several awards for her work in the fashion industry and the London Film Academy made a documentary about her. Her impact in the fashion world should never be underestimated.
