A staggering 129 million Americans have at least one major chronic disease — and 90% of our $4.1 trillion in annual health care spending goes toward treating these conditions. This is unsustainable, but there are solutions. Behavior change can be a miracle drug, both for preventing disease and for optimizing the treatment of disease. That’s the mission of Thrive AI Health, the company the OpenAI Startup Fund and Thrive Global have launched. Every aspect of our health is deeply influenced by the five foundational daily behaviors of sleep, food, movement, stress management, and social connection. Thrive Global founder and CEO Arianna Huffington shares how AI-driven hyper-personalization can significantly improve these behaviors – and health outcomes. Using AI in this way would also scale and democratize the life-saving benefits of improving daily habits and address growing health inequities. So much of the conversation around AI has been about how much time it will save us and how productive it will make us. Here we learn how AI could go well beyond efficiency and optimization to something much more fundamental: improving both our health spans and our lifespans.

Too many leaders still buy into the misguided notion that chaotic times require them to be in constant motion and always on or that they have to match the frenetic pace of the moment. As New York Times bestselling author and Thrive Global founder, and CEO Arianna Huffington writes, “In fact, the opposite is true — the best way to lead a company forward is by looking inward. It is judgment that we need from leaders in moments of crisis, not just stamina.” In this engaging talk, Huffington reveals how leaders can go inward and tap into the innovative and creative ideas that the times demand.

Over time our society’s notion of success has been reduced to just the acquisition of money and power. This idea of success can work — or at least appear to work— in the short term. But over the long term, money and power by themselves are like a two-legged stool — you can balance on them for a while. Still, eventually, you’re going to topple over. And more and more people — very successful people — are toppling over. To live the lives we truly want and deserve and not just the ones we settle for, we need another measure of success beyond the two metrics of money and power. In this riveting talk, based on her #1 New York Times bestselling book, Thrive, Arianna Huffington shows how we can create a Third Metric based on well-being, wisdom, wonder, and the power of giving.

Sleep deprivation has become a global epidemic in an increasingly fast-paced and hyper-connected world, devastatingly affecting every aspect of our health, performance, and relationships. In her New York Times bestselling book, The Sleep Revolution, Thrive Global Founder, and CEO Arianna Huffington offers a sweeping exploration of sleep, from its rich history to the latest science, emphasizing how it can transform our lives. Through personal stories and specific, science-backed tips and recommendations, Huffington addresses the most critical issues with her audience: why we sleep, why we need it, what happens when we don’t get enough, and how to get more – so we can take control of our lives and live more fully.

Can you achieve true success through a relentless race to the top at the exclusion of all else? Arianna Huffington makes a compelling case for a different approach. By redefining success beyond money and power, she urges audiences to consider a third metric in measuring success—one which is “based on well-being, health, our ability to unplug and recharge and renew ourselves, and to find joy in both our job and the rest of our life.”

Mounting evidence, both scientific and anecdotal, confirms that the practices that make us less stressed also make us more productive, and Huffington provides clear examples of how this is not only good for families’ and employees’ health, but also good for a company’s bottom line. Even though the current male-dominated model of success isn’t working for either gender, Huffington acknowledges that women must lead the charge in changing the current ethos.

Eloquent and engaging, Huffington shares how ‘leaning back’ makes for wiser leaders and how ultimately, success is not just about money or position, but about living the life you want—not just the life for which you settle.

The tech advances of the last few years have turned the news and entertainment worlds on their ears, shifting the balance of power away from the media giants and to consumers—and citizens—empowering them to choose and create. Technology is having the same game-changing effect on the political world.

In this lively presentation, Huffington, described by Fortune as one of the few people who “get” the Internet, discusses the latest online and social media trends—including how media companies are turning content promiscuity into profits—and reveals her vision of a hybrid future where traditional media and new media become one.

Third World America: How Our Politicians Are Abandoning the Middle Class and Betraying the American Dream

It’s not an exaggeration to say that middle-class Americans are an endangered species and that the American Dream of a secure, comfortable standard of living has become as outdated as an Edsel with an eight-track player. That the United States of America is in danger of becoming a third world nation. The evidence is all around us: Our industrial base is vanishing, taking with it the kind of jobs that have formed the backbone of our economy for more than a century; our education system is in shambles, making it harder for tomorrow’s workforce to acquire the information and training it needs to land good twenty-first century jobs; our infrastructure—our roads, our bridges, our sewage and water, our transportation and electrical systems—is crumbling; our economic system has been reduced to recurring episodes of Corporations Gone Wild; our political system is broken, in thrall to a small financial elite using the power of the checkbook to control both parties. And America’s middle class, the driver of so much of our economic success and political stability, is rapidly disappearing, forcing us to confront the fear that we are slipping as a nation – that our children and grandchildren will enjoy fewer opportunities and face a lower standard of living than we did. It’s the dark flipside of the American Dream – an American Nightmare of our own making. Arianna Huffington, who, with the must-read Huffington Post, has her finger on the pulse of America, unflinchingly tracks the gradual demise of America as an industrial, political, and economic leader. In the vein of her fiery bestseller Pigs at the Trough, Third World America points fingers, names names, and details who’s killing the American Dream. Finally, calling on the can-do attitude that is part of America’s DNA, Huffington shows precisely what we need to do to stop our freefall and keep America from turning into a third world nation. Third World America is a must-read for anyone disturbed by our country’s steady descent from 20th century superpower to backwater banana republic.

Right is Wrong

With her trademark passion, intelligence, and devastating wit, Huffington Post editor in chief Arianna Huffington tackles the issues that are crucial to this year’s presidential election and, even more so, to the fate of the country. Huffington makes the case that America has been hijacked from within by a radical element—the “lunatic fringe” of the Right that has taken over the Republican Party. Despite holding views at odds with the majority of Americans, these zealots have given us an endless war in Iraq, a sputtering economy, a health care system on life support, a war on science and reason, and an immoral embrace of torture. But they haven’t done it on their own: they have been enabled by a compliant media that act as if there is no such thing as truth and are more interested in cozying up to those in power than in holding them accountable, and by feckless Democrats who have allowed themselves to be intimidated into backing down again and again. Both a withering indictment and a hopeful call to arms, Right Is Wrong is an explosive, boldly incisive work that will help set the national agenda.
